Senator Bernie Sanders denied he and “Squad” MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez were about to form a new political party, but was torn apart by Democrats because of their lack of an emotional “vision of the future.”

Sanders (I-Vt.), 83, said he is on the “same page” with democratic efforts primarily to oppose President Trump’s agenda, but he hopes the party will think beyond merely defending.

“No, I’m not trying to start a third party,” Sanders said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday. “What we’re trying to do is to strengthen democracy in America. Here we have very low faith in both the Democrats and Republican parties.

Sanders’ comments come after he and Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) rocked the country that holds the town hall at the site of a traditional Republican base as part of a “broadcasting Oligarchy tour.”

Sanders denounced the Democrats for abandoning the working class, saying that was one of the reasons former Vice President Kamala Harris lost to President Trump in the 2024 election.

Democrats such as Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) have argued that progressives should abandon languages like “oligarchy.”

“Well, Gees. There were 36,000 in Los Angeles, 34,000 in Colorado. There were 30,000 in Folsom, California. “I don’t think Americans are as stupid as Slotkin thinks they are.”

Sanders also admitted that he is a fan of targeted tariffs despite his opposition to Trump’s strategy of slapping a wide range of foreign imports.

“At the time, I understood these as trade agreements written by Corporate America,” he continued. “If you have elective tariffs, if you have carefully considered to protect American workers, yes. In my opinion, what Trump did is very wrong.”

Trump slapped a baseline tariff rate of 10% on virtually all foreign imports, a 25% automobile tariff, a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum, and a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico that are not compliant with the US-Mexico-Canada Contract (USMCA).

The president also collects 125% on-ship tariffs on China, where sculptures are limited. He is currently attempting to negotiate lighting trade deals with foreign countries in place of the customized fees he plans to enact on July 8th if no speech is given.
