Bernie Sanders dismisses James Carville’s call for Dems to ‘play dead’

I-Vt. Sen. Bernie Sanders of the Republicans refused to “collapse under their own weight” when Democrat political strategist James Kerrville made a recent strategic retreat to Democrats.

“Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker asked Progressive Congressman Sunday about the idea.

“No, I don't,” Sanders said. He laughed and laughed at Carville's claim. “The problem is, in fact, Democrats have been playing dead for years,” he added.

Carville wrote In a guest essay in the New York Times, published on February 25th, it was time for Democrats to embark on the boldest political manipulation in our party's history, so that clear leaders expressing our opposition do not protect control in government branches.

Outlined the challenges facing this country, Sanders told Welker, “60% of our people live their salaries to pay. There is more income and wealth inequality than the history of this country. We have the highest childhood poverty rates in almost every major country.

“I don't think you're dead. I think you're going to stand up to the working class of this country and for now I'm going to argue that the Trump administration is clearly an administration designed to represent the interests of the world's masks.

Sanders recalls former President Abraham Lincoln's speech by Gettysburg, saying that the US government should represent the American people, not the billionaire class.

“When Kristen, Abraham Lincoln was in Gettysburg and looked over the field with many people who died to protect their freedom, he spoke about the vision of America, by the people, by the people, and for the people,” Sanders said. “What we have in Washington now is to make me very clear: billionaire class, billionaire class, and billionaire class government.”

“Their greed is uncontrollable,” he added.

“Let Republicans collapse under their weight and make Americans get us away,” Kerrville wrote. “If the Trump administration goes to the jugular vein making it like a pack of hyenas, it spirals into the 40s or high 30s with public approved voter turnout. Until then, I'm hoping for a strategic political withdrawal.”
