Bethenny Frankel Responds to Joy Behar’s Criticism

Former “Real Housewives of New York” star Bethenny Frankel recently pushed back against Joy Behar, a co-host of “The View.” This confrontation arose after Behar made remarks about Frankel’s appearance during an episode of the show.

In a video, Frankel stated, “Joy Behar brushed over my comments on the ‘View.’ Whoopi Goldberg and I were discussing how it took a lot of effort and a glam team to look presentable just two hours prior.” This was in reference to her recent appearance on the runway of a fashion show.

Frankel, aged 54, walked the Sports Illustrated swimsuit runway last week and, following the event in Miami, mentioned the extensive preparation involved before stepping onto the runway. Behar featured a clip of Frankel’s remarks during her Wednesday segment.

Responding to Behar’s comments, Frankel noted, “These lifts go back maybe 15 or 20 years. What’s important is that women in our age group can embrace life with happiness and joy.” She expressed that Behar seemed to depict an older, unhappy image of women, contrasting it with her own message of empowerment.

In her video, Frankel added, “It’s disheartening to see how some portray women our age. Many of us are here to show positivity, and then you have Joy Behar, reminding us not to be happy.” The reaction from Behar during the show was met with laughter from the audience and her fellow co-hosts.

Frankel also described how all the women with her on the runway “didn’t look like that two hours ago—it’s simply part of the industry, like the unrealistic images of women that young girls are exposed to.”

As the conversation progressed, co-host Sarah Haynes chimed in, emphasizing that today’s media often relies on airbrushed images and heavy preparation, creating unrealistic standards.

Despite the heated exchange, representatives for “The View” have yet to respond to requests for comment. Frankel’s comments continue to resonate as discussions around beauty standards and media portrayal of women evolve.
