What if the two most prominent Democrats in the U.S. attempted a comeback, and nobody really paid attention?
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are curious about that possibility.
Biden made an appearance for an interview with the BBC on Monday, followed by an appearance on “The View” on Thursday alongside his wife, Jill.
This follows his rather desperate attempts to get audiences to pay $300,000 for a speaking engagement.
During the interview, he didn’t hold back in criticizing Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Harris attended the Met Gala, surprising many by bringing her new husband. In a somewhat peculiar speech from the previous week, she called on Democrats to draw inspiration from a viral video featuring playful elephants.
How did people react? Well, there was a collective yawn from the left and the center, while the right cracked a slight smile.
The reality is that both Biden and Harris lack trust due to their records. There’s been a spike in illegal immigration and federal spending that has resulted in harsh inflation affecting average Americans.
Interestingly, Biden hasn’t really allowed Harris to take the reins of his campaign, nor has the party positioned a stronger candidate.
He mentioned, “We left when we had a good candidate,” referring to his old man mentality, and added, “I think that was the right decision.”
There’s no acknowledgment of how rising food prices and immigration issues distress voters.
It seems there’s a disconnect; they don’t realize America has moved on from their leadership and policies.
The rather lackluster return of Biden and Harris signals bigger problems for the Democrats. Simply put, there doesn’t seem to be anyone waiting in the wings.
AOC might stir some conversation on the left, but socialism isn’t appealing to most Americans. Gavin Newsom has a charming presence, but his substance is lacking, just like the aging Mayor Pete.
It’s unfortunate that Biden and Harris seem to be the best option available.
And honestly? That’s pretty sad.
