Biden Attack on Netanyahu Causes Worst Crisis in History of U.S.-Israel Relations

President Joe Biden on Friday supported Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)’s call for Israel to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and hold new elections, marking the first time in the history of U.S.-Israel relations. It represents the worst crisis.

Israel is currently fighting to defeat Hamas, which killed 1,200 people in an October 7 terrorist attack. It has also come under attack from Lebanon’s Hezbollah and faces missile attacks from the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

All of these groups are funded and armed by Iran, which considers the United States an enemy. Instead of fully supporting Israel, Biden not only criticizes it in increasingly harsh terms, but also calls for the removal of its democratic leaders.

Biden has also imposed sanctions on Israelis who have not been convicted of any crime. This week, he also sanctioned two geographical areas under Israeli control in the West Bank. At the same time, he granted Iran $10 billion in sanctions relief.

Meanwhile, the Senate, at Schumer’s direction, has refused to pass billions of dollars in military aid to Israel. There are also reports that the Biden administration is “slowly” moving ahead with deliveries of ammunition already promised to Israel.

This is happening because Prime Minister Netanyahu, like many Israelis, rejects Biden’s plan to impose a post-war Palestinian state in retaliation for Hamas’s terrorism. Israelis also want to win the war and not wait and allow Hamas to continue.

Biden is furious and wants Netanyahu removed. So he and Schumer sent a message to Israel. “If we don’t replace Prime Minister Netanyahu, we won’t receive more money or weapons.” You will face terrorism yourself.

If Israel responds and elects a new leader, it should find someone who accepts Biden’s policies, which the majority of Israelis reject; maybe Although they can receive aid and ammunition, absolutely War goals have not been reached. It will probably not be able to completely defeat Hamas in Rafah, and it will almost certainly not be able to secure northern Israel against Hezbollah. Israel will no longer be able to transport cargo via the Red Sea. Israel will lose the war.

This is a terrifying dilemma and unprecedented in the history of U.S.-Israel relations. Barack Obama precipitated the crisis by imposing the Iran nuclear deal on Israel in 2015, but Prime Minister Netanyahu argued that the deal would allow Iran to emerge as a nuclear power for the first time in a decade and give Iran funding for terrorism. Because of this, he publicly opposed it. That alone was bad enough. What Biden is doing is even more egregious and involves active political interference in Israel, which is in the midst of an existential conflict.

The message to Israel’s enemies is clear. Despite Israel’s success against Hamas in Gaza, they are winning this war. The Biden administration is rewarding Islamic terrorism and the Iranian regime, but clearly does not understand the consequences.
