Not at all. Some in Israel have suggested that Prime Minister Netanyahu is prolonging the war for his own political self-preservation. Do you agree?
Biden: I’m not going to comment on that. There are good reasons why people draw that conclusion. And there’s the backlash from the Israeli military over his wanting to change the constitution, change the courts before the war started. So it’s a domestic debate that doesn’t seem to have any impact. I don’t know if he’ll change his position, but it’s not helping.
After announcing his executive orders on border security on Tuesday afternoon, Biden responded to a reporter’s question, who shouted out whether he thought Netanyahu was “playing politics” with the war. Biden took a breath to respond.
“I don’t think so,” the president responded. “He’s trying to solve a serious problem.” Biden did not offer details.
An Israeli spokesman said Tuesday it would be inappropriate for Biden to comment on Israel’s internal affairs.
