The author of a Joe Biden biographer said Tuesday that he believes the Biden administration is the most “scripted” White House in modern American history.
Last year, author Chris Whipple published a book about Biden’s first few years in office called “The Battle of Our Lives: Inside Joe Biden’s White House.” The White House granted Whipple significant access to Biden’s inner circle for the book, ultimately giving Whipple a unique perspective on the Biden administration.
“You can look at this in two ways. This is clearly either the White House is hiding something or they’re just obsessed with controlling the narrative.”
In an interview with CNN, Whipple shared what he learned.
Despite giving Biden special access, Whipple told CNN host Abby Phillips that control is built into the DNA of the Biden administration.
“The thing to understand here is that the DNA of this White House controls the narrative. And I can say from my experience writing a book on this that this is the most tightly controlled, buttoned up, scripted White House in modern history,” he argued.
Not only does the White House control its own narrative, but access to Biden is also tightly regulated, even for his biographer.
“I was able to interview almost all of Joe Biden’s top aides in real time, but when it came to Biden himself, the arrangement was that he would answer written questions in writing,” Whipple said. “I’d never heard of that.”
Philip then asked Whipple if he considered that extreme level of control a “red flag,” to which he replied in the affirmative.
“You can look at this two ways: Either the White House is clearly trying to hide something, or they’re just obsessed with controlling the narrative,” he explained.
Later in the interview, Whipple revealed that he had spoken to one of Biden’s “closest friends” and that he believes the president should undergo thorough cognitive testing.
“One of the president’s closest friends believes Joe Biden should go to Walter Reed, get a thorough neurological exam, make the results public and let the rest take its course,” Whipple said.
“I don’t think any of my friends have said this directly to Joe Biden because it’s a hard thing to say to him, even if you’re a close friend,” he added, “but I don’t think he would go that far without a lot of pressure.”
Biden has reportedly not undergone extensive cognitive testing, but the White House continues to insist the president is in good health.
