Biden calls for Supreme Court term limits, code of conduct, limits on presidential immunity

White House officials said Biden will ask Congress to impose term limits and codes of conduct on the Supreme Court and also plan to draft limits on presidential immunity.

Biden is expected to discuss the proposed reforms during a speech at the Johnson Presidential Library on Monday marking the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, the official said. Biden also mentioned his desire for reform of the Supreme Court in an op-ed published Monday morning.

“I served as a senator for 36 years, including as chairman and ranking member of the Judiciary Committee. As a senator, vice president and president, I have overseen more Supreme Court nominations than anyone alive today,” Biden said. The Washington Post. “I have great respect for our institutions and the separation of powers. What is happening now is not normal and undermines public confidence in the Supreme Court’s decisions, including those that affect individual liberties. We are now in a crisis,” Biden wrote.
