President Biden’s reelection campaign expects more than 12,000 people to show up to debate viewing parties in battleground states on Thursday night, the campaign first revealed to The Hill.
Biden also plans to attend a viewing party in Atlanta after the first presidential debate, a campaign source told The Hill.
The campaign plans to hold viewing parties in all 50 states on Thursday, when Biden faces off against former President Trump.
The Biden campaign announced earlier this week that it would host more than 300 debate viewing parties, many of which will feature Biden campaign surrogates.
Ahead of the debate, the campaign hosted more than 1,600 additional events in battleground states, including training sessions and door-to-door canvassing with supporters and volunteers.
Both camps are competing for support in key battleground states.
Last week’s state-by-state Emerson College Polling/The Hill poll found Trump leading Biden by 4 points in Arizona and Georgia, 3 points in Wisconsin and Nevada, 2 points in Pennsylvania and 1 point in Michigan.
A CBS News/YouGov poll earlier this month found that 50% of voters in battleground states chose Biden, while 49% chose Trump.
