Biden’s campaign announced Saturday that it raised an impressive $90 million in March, helped by a massive New York City fundraiser and another strong wave of grassroots donations.
The campaign ended the first quarter of 2024 with a total of $187 million raised and enters the second quarter with $192 million in cash, which is more than any Democratic candidate at this point in the election cycle. It is said to be a record. Officials say 1.6 million people have donated to the campaign so far.
The amount raised exceeds the roughly $66 million raised by former President Trump’s campaign in March. The Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee, which merged last month after Trump became the confirmed candidate, had $93.1 million in cash on hand at the end of March.
“The funds we are raising are historic and we are building a winning operation focused solely on the voters who will decide this election: offices across the country, staff in battleground states, and paid media program conferences.” “Where are the voters?” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement. “This is in stark contrast to President Trump’s cash flow, which relies on a limited number of billionaires to funnel funds to pay for various legal costs.”
The Biden campaign had its best month of grassroots fundraising ever in March, setting a personal record for small-dollar donations for the fifth consecutive month.
The president brought in $26 million in one night last week when he attended an event in New York City with former Presidents Obama and Clinton. And the campaign raised $10 million in the 24 hours surrounding the State of the Union address in early March.
The cash advantage allowed the campaign to open more than 100 field offices across the country and launch a $30 million advertising campaign targeting key battleground states.
Meanwhile, Trump is scheduled to attend a major fundraiser in Florida on Saturday, where his campaign expects the event, hosted by hedge fund founder John Paulson, to raise more than $33 million. .
President Trump is planning additional fundraisers in the coming weeks, including one in Pennsylvania on April 13, two days before his hush money trial begins in New York.
