“Complicity in the deaths of over 20,000 Palestinians, 8,200 of them children, is completely unjustifiable.”
Officials said Israel's “indiscriminate” bombing of Gaza “fundamentally contradicts” Biden's beliefs in justice, empathy and the sanctity of human life.
“We joined this campaign because the values you and we share are worth fighting for. Our beliefs in justice, empathy, and the sanctity of human life are the Not only that, but also the backbone of this country,” the letter said. “But your administration's response to Israel's indiscriminate bombing in Gaza is fundamentally at odds with those values, and we believe it could damage the 2024 election. Officials said it was “not enough to replace Donald Trump” but that Biden needed to support a ceasefire.
“Simply being a replacement for Donald Trump is not enough,” the letter said. “Campaigns must change the emotions deep in the stomachs of voters, the same emotions that weigh on us as we fight every day for re-election. The way to do this is to call for a ceasefire.”
