Biden Celebrates Granddaughter’s Birthday in Philadelphia
Former President Joe Biden was spotted smiling Thursday night at a birthday dinner in Philadelphia for his granddaughter, Finnegan, who will turn 25 next week.
Biden, 82, enjoyed the occasion seated at a table with Finnegan. Ashley Biden shared a post on Instagram Stories, saying, “Happy birthday dinner for our girls. Finnegan James Biden!”
In a playful message, Ashley mentioned, “Going to the birds!” along with a Philadelphia Eagles emoji. She also added, “May all wishes come true.”
A photo from the dinner showed a piece of paper sticking out of Finnegan’s birthday cake and Biden’s coat jacket, though the image quality didn’t allow for any readable content.
During his presidency, Biden often displayed similar notes in public, showcasing agendas and details about participants in meetings.
Interestingly, Finnegan’s father, Hunter Biden, 55, wasn’t present at the gathering.
The meal took place at Boromini, an Italian restaurant near Rittenhouse Square, which opened recently, managed by Stephen Starr, known for other popular spots in Philadelphia and Washington.
Biden appeared cheerful despite recently undergoing treatment for skin cancer.
His first sit-down meal at a restaurant as president surprised staff when he simply ordered pancakes at a diner about a mile from the White House.
In a more serious note, Biden had to withdraw from his reelection bid last year amidst concerns from fellow Democrats about his mental acuity, alongside ongoing public interest related to his health, which is under investigation by a House Oversight Committee.
In May, Biden disclosed that he was battling stage 4 prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. This announcement came just days before the release of a heavily promoted book discussing the alleged cover-up of his mental decline, raising questions about whether the timing was meant to mitigate potential negative reactions.
