Biden coasts to victory, Nikki Haley upended by ‘none of these candidates’ in thinly-contested Nevada primary

While President Biden won Tuesday’s Nevada Democratic primary, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley suffered a humiliating defeat in the Republican race where former President Donald Trump’s name wasn’t even on the ballot. .

“None of these candidates” was the top vote-getter for the Republican bill, with this option receiving more than 60% of the vote when the Associated Press called the race.

Haley was the only major Republican candidate to enter the Nevada primary without delegates, with the state’s Republican-led caucuses held Thursday and drawing 26 delegates.

Haley faced virtually no competition and received just 33.2% of the vote in the low-turnout contest.

Haley’s campaign acknowledged Monday that it is “not spending a penny or an ounce of energy on Nevada.”

The option “None of these candidates” received 5.7% of the vote and was in second place. Self-help guru Marianne Williamson came in third with around 2.5% support.

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.), who won nearly 20% of the vote in last month’s New Hampshire Democratic primary, will not be on the Nevada ballot because he entered the race after the state’s Oct. 16 filing deadline. is not included.

Mr. Biden’s victory in the race for first place in the western state of Nevada followed his easy victory in the 55-delegate South Carolina Democratic primary on Saturday.

The incumbent also won New Hampshire’s Democratic primary on January 23, even though he was not listed on the ballot and asked his supporters to write their names.

Biden needs 1,968 delegates to secure the Democratic nomination.

The next campaign for Democrats is the Michigan primary on February 27th.
