President Joe Biden’s Administration Officially announced With the border crisis continuing throughout Biden’s term, officials said they do not support a House Republican proposal to implement voter ID laws in elections to prevent illegal immigrants from voting.
The Protect America’s Voter Citizenship Act, introduced by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), would require states to collect proof of citizenship directly when registering to vote and would require states to remove anyone who is in the country illegally from their existing voter rolls.

“Radical Progressive Democrats are using their open borders agenda to attack election integrity laws and fundamentally reshape America. That’s why I’m proud to introduce the SAVE Act, along with Speaker Johnson and my Republican colleagues, with the valuable support of Americans and organizations who recognize that the practice of foreign voting in our elections must end,” Roy said of the bill.
The Biden administration said the bill was not necessary because there were already laws in place that did not allow foreign nationals to vote and requiring voter ID would prevent Americans from voting.
“The purported basis for this bill is based on easily disproven lies. … This bill would do nothing to secure our elections, make it more difficult for all Americans to register to vote, and increase the risk that voters will be removed from the voter rolls. Existing laws preventing foreign nationals from voting are clearly working as intended. It is extremely rare for foreign nationals to break the law by voting in a federal election,” the statement said.
The statement also criticized House Republicans for not voting for the Senate bill, which included several tough border measures, because it was packed with provisions that would have enacted some of the worst aspects of the border crisis.
“81% of Americans want ID verification to vote. It’s pretty simple. Democrats ignore American civil rights every day, from elections to open borders to fiscal reckoning to welfare for foreigners. It’s time to stand up for Americans and pass the SAVE Act,” Roy said. Posts About X.
