President Joe Biden said Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the “elites” who are calling for him to drop out of the presidential race should challenge him at the Democratic National Convention.
“I was one of the few people who publicly said before the 2022 election, ‘There’s not going to be a red wave, there’s not going to be a red wave,’ and I went around the country and I just didn’t believe it. And then I went into many of the big elections in 2023, not all of them, but I said we were going to win. And we did,” Biden said.
He continued, “The American people will not abandon me as an average voter. Again, I’m here for two reasons. One, to fix our economy so that hardworking middle-class people can give everybody a chance, a fair chance, and get a fair chance for everybody. And two, forget I’ve said I don’t have the support of black people. Hold on, come with me, look. I’m frustrated with the elites. Not you guys, but the elites in my party. Oh, they know a lot more. And if you don’t think I should run, run against me, run for president, challenge me at the convention.”
“In Europe, the French polls were wrong and here in the US there is no right-wing wave,” he added.
