Biden defiant about push to oust him from ticket, reveals thoughts on Trump’s VP pick

In an exclusive NBC interview scheduled to air in full Monday night, President Biden remained defiant about his position as the Democratic nominee after a politically tumultuous weekend.

“Fourteen million people elected me to be the Democratic nominee, OK?” Biden told NBC’s Lester Holt during an interview at the White House. “I’m going to listen to them.”

Biden also told Holt that he hasn’t fully considered debate time with Donald Trump, which has many in his party and donors questioning whether he’s qualified to stay on at the top instead of stepping back and letting a younger candidate take the lead.

“I watched parts of it, but I didn’t watch the whole debate,” Biden said.

Biden also had no kind words for J.D. Vance, the Republican senator from Ohio who Trump picked as his Republican running mate.

“Well, that’s not unusual. He’s going to surround himself with people who completely agree with him and who support him with their voting records,” Biden said, adding, “Even if you look back at what J.D. Vance said about Trump,” before laughing.

The full interview will air tonight at 9pm on NBC.
