Biden Responds to Trump and GOP Claims
On Wednesday, former President Biden pushed back against assertions from President Trump and some Republicans suggesting that he had been indecisive during his time in office, especially regarding an investigation he initiated.
“Let’s be clear. We made decisions during the presidency—decisions on pardons, executive orders, laws, and declarations,” he stated.
Biden described these claims as mere distractions aimed at diverting attention from Trump and Republican lawmakers, who he accused of promoting harmful legislation that jeopardizes vital programs like Medicaid, ultimately raising costs for American families.
In a parallel statement, Trump urged Biden to consult with Attorney General Pam Bondy to investigate whether he misled the public about his mental fitness and if he improperly exercised presidential powers.
The inquiry is centered on Biden’s use of an “autopen” to sign documents, raising questions about his capacity to fulfill presidential responsibilities.
Trump’s directives reference Biden appointing over 200 judges, enacting numerous generous acts, and releasing more than 1,000 official documents during his administration.
Biden’s supporters argue that utilizing autopens is a common, court-sanctioned practice and that the Constitution imposes few limits on the use of presidential privileges.
Since Trump assumed office, the Republican Party has taken various actions targeting Biden.
The White House announced on Tuesday that Ed Martin’s legal team will evaluate Biden’s family amnesty and review several measures taken on his inauguration’s final day.
Additionally, House Republicans have sought out former Biden aides as part of an inquiry into the ex-president’s mental clarity.
Last month, the Justice Department made public a recording of an interview with Biden’s special advisor, Robert Huar. During this conversation, lawyers noted that Biden seems to exhibit memory concerns. In the past, the Biden administration had published a complete transcript of the discussion.
