Biden easily wins Louisiana Democratic primary

President Biden has won the Louisiana Democratic presidential primary, according to projections from Decision Desk Headquarters.

Biden crossed the threshold to win the party’s nomination earlier this month, paving the way for a rematch with former President Trump in November. The incumbent is expected to win all 47 delegates allotted to Pelican State University.

Author Marianne Williamson, who briefly put her bid for the White House on hold but returned late last month, also appeared on the ballot. However, the most likely candidate has yet to collect any delegates in the Democratic primary.

In the 2020 election, Trump led Biden in the state 58% to 40%. A Democrat hasn’t won the state in a general election since 1996, when former President Bill Clinton led former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) 52% to 40%.

Still, the Pelican State is not expected to play a decisive role in the 2024 general election.
