Biden Discusses Harris’s Election Loss on “The View”
Former President Joe Biden spoke about the recent election results on “The View,” specifically addressing the defeat of former Vice President Kamala Harris to President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Trump won by securing votes across seven critical states, leading co-host Sarah Haynes to ask Biden if he was surprised by the outcome. Biden responded, stating that he wasn’t surprised, although he believed Harris was qualified to lead the country.
“This is a woman—qualified and capable,” Biden remarked. He noted that there haven’t been many successful campaigns by mixed-race women, suggesting that societal perceptions play a role in such outcomes.
Additionally, Biden mentioned the adverse effects of COVID-19 on public sentiment, acknowledging his disappointment but reiterating that the election result didn’t catch him off guard. He found the severity of the attacks during the campaign to be surprising.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries sidestepped questions regarding Biden’s lack of surprise about the election results when approached by a reporter. Instead of focusing on 2028, he expressed confidence in gaining control of the House by 2026, laying the groundwork for future successes.
In an earlier October interview, Harris faced backlash for suggesting she didn’t differ significantly from Biden. Her presidential campaign in 2020 garnered only 844 votes in the Democratic primary without securing any delegates, a stark contrast to her aspirations.
Looking ahead, Harris hinted at a potential run for California governor, stating she would make a decision by the end of summer.
