Outgoing President Joe Biden released a farewell letter days before President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration, calling it a “privilege of life” to serve in politics.
“Four years ago, we stood in a winter of danger and a winter of possibility. We were facing the worst pandemic in a century, the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, and the worst crisis for our democracy since the Civil War. We were under attack,” Biden said. “But we came together as Americans and braved it. We came out stronger, richer and safer.”
“I ran for president because I believed the soul of America was at stake. Our very essence was at stake, and it still is,” he said. added.
“The idea that America is stronger than any army and bigger than any ocean. It is the most powerful idea in the history of the world. That idea is that we are all created equal, that we are all created equal, that we are given life, liberty, and freedom by our Creator. We have never fully lived up to this sacred idea, but I have never strayed from it. I don't believe in walking away from this right now.”
Biden shared his “humble” beginnings in the Oval Office, calling it the privilege of his life to serve his country for more than 50 years.
“It has been the privilege of my life to serve this country for more than 50 years. From humble beginnings in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Claymont, Delaware, to a child with a stutter, one day serving as President of the United States in the Oval Office. There is no place on earth where I can sit behind a resolute desk. I have given my heart and soul to this country, and I have been blessed millions of times with the love and support of the American people. I’m here.”

Biden is scheduled to appear at the Capitol on Monday, when President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.
Earlier this month, Trump accused Biden of making his return to the Oval Office “as difficult as possible.”

Michelle Obama will not attend the ceremony. The former first lady's team has not revealed the reason for her absence from the inauguration ceremony.
She was also absent from Jimmy Carter's funeral at the Washington National Cathedral on January 9th. Barack Obama ended up sitting next to Trump, where the two were seen having a ruckus online.
