Biden gives Ukraine permission to use US weapons to strike inside Russia

President Biden has given Ukraine the go-ahead to use American weapons to attack targets inside Russia, Fox News has confirmed, in a major shift in policy.

A senior U.S. official confirmed that President Biden has authorized the use of U.S. long-range weapons near Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, to protect it from continuing Russian aggression.

The official said the change in policy was a “limited” one related to Kharkiv, rather than a broader one that would allow U.S. weapons to be used on Russian soil.

Pressure mounts on Biden administration to allow Ukraine to use U.S. weapons to attack Russia

“The president recently directed his team to allow Ukraine to use U.S.-supplied weapons for counter-battery purposes in the Kharkiv region so Ukraine can strike back against Russian forces currently attacking or preparing to attack,” the U.S. official said. “Our policy remains unchanged, prohibiting the use of ATACMS or long-range attacks on Russian soil.”

When asked about the policy during a press conference Thursday afternoon, Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh repeatedly reiterated that “there is no change in policy.”
