Biden, Harris Fail to Call Netanyahu After Assassination Attempt; Trump, Starmer, Johnson Do

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris did not call Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after a drone crashed on him Saturday after an assassination attempt by Iran-backed Hezbollah.

As Breitbart News reported, Hezbollah launched three drones toward Israel. Two planes were shot down, but the third plane reached the private home of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife. They were not home at the time, but no one was injured.

Still, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran that an “assassination attempt” would be a “grave mistake.” (Iran reportedly tried to distance itself from the Hezbollah attack.)

era of israel reported After the event, President Trump said he spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana).

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called Prime Minister Netanyahu also said he was “alarmed” by drone attacks. But neither President Biden nor Vice President Harris seemed to have bothered to make the call, according to people familiar with the matter.

Biden spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this week after Israeli forces killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in a chance encounter in Rafah. Biden and Harris opposed Israel entering Rafah, even though Hamas leaders could be found there.

Mr. Biden has a frosty relationship with Mr. Netanyahu. Harris used her meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to issue a statement condemning Israel for “human suffering” in Gaza.
