The White House communications staff has had to correct President Joe Biden’s public statements at least 148 times since the beginning of 2024, according to a review of official White House records.
The White House releases official records every time the president speaks or takes questions. According to a Daily Caller analysis, communications staff frequently amended, added to, and changed Biden’s public statements to make them conform to official White House policy and, in some cases, reality. In some cases, public statements had to be changed to convey the exact opposite of what Biden actually said.
Across 118 statements, speeches and chats with reporters between January 1 and April 24, the White House officially updated the record by correcting what the president said out loud at least 148 times.
Changes include correcting your organization’s name, dates, and title. Some change the verb or completely change the meaning of the president’s statement. Words that the president did not say but should have said were also added to the record, White House staff said.
