Biden Has ‘Finally,’ Dealt with Border in ‘Exactly the Right Way’

Asked on CNN News Central on Thursday how President Joe Biden should address criticism that he has been too slow to act on immigration, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D), a member of the Biden campaign’s advisory board, said Biden has been pushing for comprehensive reform from the start and “Biden has finally addressed this in exactly the right way.”

Co-host Boris Sanchez asked, “How do you think the president should respond to his assertion that these measures came too late in the fourth year of his administration, after we’ve seen record numbers of illegal border crossings?”

Pritzker responded: “Look, what we need is comprehensive immigration reform. It was proposed during both of their terms. Donald Trump flatly rejected it. Joe Biden, when he took office, wanted to get it done from day one. If we had comprehensive immigration reform, we wouldn’t have the problem we have now. Now, I think Joe Biden has finally addressed this issue in the right way. He proposed a bipartisan solution. And by the way, as has happened many times during Joe Biden’s term, Republicans came to the table to work with Biden. And Republicans heard Donald Trump tell them, walk away, we can make this an issue in this campaign, we don’t care about the negative impact on the American people, let’s make it an issue in 2024. So Republicans walked away. That’s what Donald Trump is like. This is the policy he’s going to pursue, and if it’s good for him, that’s what Donald Trump is going to pursue, regardless of whether it’s bad for the American people or not.”
