On Monday’s CNN “AC360,” Biden-Harris campaign co-chair Mitch Landrieu said that President Joe Biden’s performance in last week’s debate was poor, but that “debate performances don’t make a great president. The president has a four-year track record. He has a great team that’s been with him since the beginning.” Meanwhile, regarding former President Donald Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential candidate, many former administration officials have said he shouldn’t run for office again.
Landrieu began by saying Biden had done a good job as president, getting up after being knocked down and performing well in his interview with host Anderson Cooper.
He added: “It was a terrible performance. We’ve seen it time and time again. I hear you talk about Obama, I hear you talk about Reagan, everybody wants to say different. But debate performance doesn’t make a great president. He has a four-year track record. He has a great team that’s been with him since the beginning. One of the things that people said Donald Trump was trying to put lipstick on a pig in the debate is that 40 of his 44 cabinet members have said they won’t vote for him and are asking us not to vote for him, and the vice president who was in the middle of the riot and nearly lost his life has also said he won’t vote for him.”
