Biden is scheduled to return to Michigan on Friday for his fourth time this year.
A group of 14 Detroit state lawmakers released a letter Thursday expressing their “unwavering support for Biden.”
They say he is the “legitimate choice” to be the party’s candidate.
Biden appears to be facing growing opposition within the Democratic Party, with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) reportedly now also working behind the scenes to get Biden to reconsider his intentions to run for president.
Voters, especially in battleground states like Michigan, say it’s too late for a new Democratic candidate.
The Biden campaign is counting on wins in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to secure the 270 electoral votes needed to win.
A compilation of 56 polls shows Biden leading Trump in Michigan by just 4 percentage points.
