Joe Biden’s polls are not good.

His approval ratings are low, polling far worse than during the same period in 2020.

On May 14, 2020, Joe Biden had a 4.5 approval rating lead over Donald Trump, according to the Real Clear Politics average.

Based on the same average, as of May 14, 2024, Mr. Trump leads Mr. Biden by 1.2 points.

Looking at the major states, the news couldn’t be any better.

A New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia Inquirer poll found Trump leading in five of the six battleground states.

The Hill reported:

According to the latest polls, former President Trump is leading President Biden in a hypothetical head-to-head contest in five of the six key battleground states.

According to a New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia Inquirer poll conducted from April 28 to May 9, registered voters in Pennsylvania (47% to 44%) and Arizona (49 to 42%), and in Michigan (49 to 42%), Mr. Trump leads Mr. Biden. ), Georgia (49 to 39 percent), and Nevada (50 to 38 percent).

Among registered voters, assuming a head-to-head contest between the two major party candidates, Biden leads in one state, Wisconsin (47% to 45%), according to the poll.

The results were similar among likely voters, with the difference between the two candidates moving by only 1 to 2 percentage points in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. However, Biden’s performance in Michigan improved by 5 points among likely voters, leading him in the state (47% to 46%) over Trump. In Wisconsin, Mr. Biden has lost his lead over Mr. Trump, where Mr. Trump leads Mr. Biden among likely voters (47% to 46%).

Joe Biden doesn’t believe in polls.

According to Axios, Biden and some aides have said the polls do not reflect support for him.

Axios reported:

President Biden doesn’t believe his bad poll numbers, and neither do many of his aides, according to people familiar with the matter.

Why it matters: Democrats who have spoken privately with the president and his team say the negative attitude toward poor poll results is sincere, not outright bias.

That bedrock belief remains that even though many Democrats outside the White House are calling for a change in direction in the race, given that Biden’s poll numbers are significantly behind where they were four years ago, This has had an impact on the fact that his election campaign is proceeding almost smoothly.

They say the polls simply don’t reflect the president’s support.

Even Democrats admit that Biden’s polling was a disaster, but Biden still won’t believe it.
