Biden, in Rare Briefing Room Appearance, Tells Israel Not to Hit Iran’s Oil Facilities

President Joe Biden made a rare appearance in the White House briefing room on Friday and told Israel not to attack Iranian oil facilities in response to this week's ballistic missile attack.

“Look, the Israelis haven't decided what they're going to do about the attack yet. They're still debating it. If I were in their shoes, I would consider other options than attacking the oil fields.”

Biden said earlier this week that Israel should not attack Iran's nuclear facilities.

CBS News' trusted left-wing reporter Weijia Zhang asked Biden whether he thought Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could try to influence the US election.

“No administration has supported Israel as much as I have. None. None. None. And I think Bibi should remember that. And I don't know if he's trying to influence the election. But I’m not counting on that.”

President Donald Trump has done more for Israel than any president since President Harry S. Truman, who declared and recognized Israel's independence in 1948.

Another reporter asked Biden why he expected Israel to listen to him, given that “for the past several months, Israel has consistently defied the administration's own recommendations.”
