Recent polling data could spell the end for the commander-in-chief.gallup poll mentioned Mr. Biden, 81, is said to have an astonishing approval rating of 38.7 percent in the first quarter of 2024.
Biden currently ranks three points lower than his one-term counterpart George H.W. Bush.
The pollster said: ”[w]With about six months until Election Day, Biden is in a weaker position than any previous incumbent. ”
Biden’s approval ratings run counter to Trump’s approval ratings at this point in his presidency. President Trump’s approval rating was 46.8% with six months left in his term.
Gallup says:
Jimmy Carter is the only president whose average for his 13th quarter in office was below 50%. Three of the four presidents whose average approval rating was below 50% in the 13th quarter won reelection, with the exception of Obama.
Four of the six reelected presidents – Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush – had average approval ratings between 51% and 55% in the 13th quarter. Another, Dwight Eisenhower, had the highest average of any president at this stage of his presidency, at 73.2%.
The report went on to say that while Biden’s latest quarterly average is the lowest of his entire presidency, it is not that different from last quarter, when he received a 39% approval rating.
Biden’s approval ratings dropped dramatically after his first two quarters in office. In the first two quarters, his approval rating was around 50%, but his approval rating is currently hovering around 40%.
“During the 13th quarter, fighting between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip continued, and levels of illegal border crossings at the U.S. southern border also increased,” Gallup said.
“The bipartisan immigration reform bill negotiated in the Senate in February failed to pass, and while macroeconomic indicators, particularly job growth, remain strong, there are signs that inflation may rise again. The stock market hit record highs during 2019, but has been weak in recent weeks.
However, it remains to be seen whether Trump will be able to defeat Biden in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
