MSNBC host Jen Psaki said on “Morning Joe” Wednesday that President Joe Biden issued executive orders on immigration because it has been one of his “greatest weaknesses” politically.
“I think there are a couple of things that are true at the same time. One is, our border system is broken for a variety of reasons. Border security is broken, among other things. Building a wall is not going to solve that problem. I would say technology has improved over the last few decades. There’s a lot of technology that can be used to secure the border. That’s part of what we need. I’m sure that’s what the White House wants to do. We also need a more humane asylum system, which is completely broken and unfair to asylum seekers,” Psaki said.
She added: “Politically, this is one of the biggest weaknesses, and regardless of who’s upset about the details of what’s in here and what’s not in here, this is a political weakness for the president and his campaign. They know it. They knew that politically, they had to issue something like an executive order before the election, and that’s what we’re seeing now.”
