On CNN’s “The Situation Room” broadcast on Thursday, Hawaii Governor Josh Green (Democrat) spoke about his meeting with President Joe Biden on Wednesday along with other governors, and said that in their meeting the previous day, President Biden did say that he was in good health and that the problem was with his brain, but that it was clearly a self-deprecating joke and not a serious statement, saying, “Being able to make self-deprecating jokes is a big cognitive ability.”
When asked about Biden’s joke that “my health is fine, it’s just my brain,” Greene said the comment was clearly a self-deprecating joke by Biden, something the president does often. “Biden makes self-deprecating jokes because it’s comfortable, as opposed to a former president who would probably say in the third person that Trump’s brain is amazing, that Trump could pass any test, that Trump’s brain passed an MRI scan, etc. Biden was just making fun of us. And frankly, and I say this as a physician, the cognitive ability to be able to make self-deprecating jokes is an important ability.”
