Biden Mispronounces Laken Riley’s Name at State of the Union

President Joe Biden appeared to misspell the name of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student who was allegedly killed at the hands of illegal aliens, during Thursday night’s State of the Union address.

During her fourth speech at SOTU, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) shouted at Biden: Please say her name! When he started talking about the issue of illegal immigration.

Biden responded by acknowledging that an illegal alien was responsible for killing Riley on the University of Georgia (UGA) campus in February, but appearing to misspell Riley’s name.

“Lincoln Riley!” Biden responded to Greene. “An innocent young woman was killed by an illegal alien. That’s true. But how many out of thousands were killed by an illegal alien?” , I would like to express my deepest condolences. I understand.”

What Biden did not mention is that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released José Antonio Ibarra, the Venezuelan illegal alien accused of killing Riley, into U.S. soil in September 2022. .

House Republicans wore pins honoring Riley during the SOTU speech, but Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) several days ago called on Biden to mention Riley in his speech. Similarly, Rep. Mike Collins (R-Ga.) vacated his seat to honor Riley and his grieving friends and family.

On Thursday, just 37 House Democrats joined House Republicans in passing the Laken-Riley Act, which would require DHS to hold undocumented immigrants charged with or convicted of shoplifting, theft, burglary, or theft. was approved. At the time of Riley’s murder, Ybarra was wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court on shoplifting charges.
