Biden: Nine heads of state have said I’ve ‘got to win’ in November

President Biden said Wednesday that he has been told by several foreign leaders that he needs to defeat former President Trump, who is likely to be the Republican nominee in November.

“When I would walk out of a meeting, heads of state would come up to me and find some excuse to say, ‘We have to win,'” Biden recalled at a San Francisco fundraiser.

“It’s not because I’m special,” he added. The president quoted leaders of other countries as saying, “’You must win because if the other side wins, our democracy is in jeopardy.” “Nine heads of state have said the same thing to me. Did.”

The president slammed Republicans during remarks at a fundraiser Wednesday night.

He singled out the late Sen. Strom Thurmond (RS.C.), saying he was “working with real racists” in the Senate. “They’re worse. They don’t believe in the fundamental principles of democracy,” he said, referring to Republicans.

“Republicans have shown time and time again that they are the party of chaos and division,” Biden said.

Biden is on a three-day visit to California this week to raise funds for his re-election campaign. Earlier Wednesday, he criticized President Trump’s response to the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny last week.

The president also called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “crazy SOB” after he squarely blamed him for Navalny’s death.
