Biden was visiting the Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department on the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks when someone asked him to put on a Trump campaign hat.
“Kamala did horribly in last night's debate. Joe Biden just wore a Trump hat.”
Video of the moment was widely circulated on social media.
The Trump campaign used the opportunity to ridicule the Harris campaign.

He said Biden “talked to the firefighters about the bipartisan unity in this country after 9/11 and that we need to get back to that.”

The Trump campaign issued a new statement.
“Joe Biden only wore a Trump hat because Kamala performed poorly in last night's debate,” they added.
Trump's misappropriation of hats wasn't the only display of political civility on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, President Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris shared a friendly handshake at the memorial, with many on social media expressing support for the friendly attitude shown by the pair after Tuesday night's heated debate.
