Biden Says He’ll Help Africa ‘Build Back Better’ in a Second Term

President Joe Biden said in an interview on Tuesday that if re-elected, he will help Africa “build back better” in a second term.

Biden said that in addition to building NATO “politically and economically,” he is “furiously focused on dealing with what they’re calling the South right now.”

“Africa’s population will reach one billion in the next few years. We have to be the catalyst for change for their benefit, for their betterment. We have to help them build back better. We have to help them,” he said.

He also said he wanted to build a railway across the African continent.

“Africa has a lot of opportunities and we need to take advantage of them,” he said.

Biden’s pledge comes as Niger and Chad have leaned toward Russia and China and have either expelled or are in the process of expelling U.S. troops from their countries.

The Biden administration also spent $320 million of American taxpayer money to build a temporary pier in the Gaza Strip, but it collapsed less than two weeks later and has since been dismantled and is undergoing repairs before being reinstalled.
