Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Wednesday on CBS’ “The Late Show” that President Joe Biden should have disarmed Israel sooner.
On Wednesday, Biden said on CNN that he had no intention of supplying Israel with offensive weapons for the Rafah attack.
Psaki said: Should I have used it sooner? I think the answer is yes. But we are seeing them withdrawing the sending of weapons. This is actually a pretty significant sign, given that the US and Israel have long-standing ties regarding military assistance, of which the US is a major provider. ”
Host Stephen Colbert asked, “How many times has the United States withheld arms?”
“This has happened before, although it hasn’t happened many times before. But it hasn’t happened many times before, but this is a very important step,” Psaki said. Psaki responded. “I would say that Prime Minister Netanyahu is someone that Joe Biden has had a difficult, challenging, difficult relationship with for some time. People don’t always see that. It’s not being talked about.”
Additionally, “The nature of diplomacy is very difficult and difficult to explain. It’s very difficult to talk about what goes on behind the scenes. Talking about it can end up ruining diplomatic negotiations and conversations. But outreach, connecting, listening to young people and hearing from them is certainly an important part of that. He’s scheduled to speak at Morehouse College and give a commencement speech there in a few weeks. That’s a good step. They may be doing more of that. And I think this is an important part of the outreach they have to do in the coming months.”
