Biden Should Take ‘Unilateral Action’ on ‘This Open Border’ That He Ignored for a While

On CNN’s “Outfront” broadcast Thursday, Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.) said he wants President Joe Biden to “take some unilateral action” regarding “this open border.” “The president has started to do a lot more work on this border,” he said. He talked about it at the beginning of his administration. ”

host Erin Burnett asked. New Axios poll Tonight, we learned that 42% of Latino adults in the United States support a wall or fence on the U.S.-Mexico border. Not only is this number probably higher than many in the audience expected, but he’s also increased by 12 points over the past three years. Should President Biden hear this as a wake-up call?”

Suozzi replied: This is an issue that the American people are concerned about, and I’ve always said that the best elected officials, the best politicians, are the ones who say what the people are already thinking. Ta. And the people of the United States, whether Republicans, independents or Democrats, are concerned about the border. They’re worried about what they’re going to see on tonight’s show and what they’re going to see as a mess. And the wall is not going to solve the problem by itself, but listen, make it part of the solution. Like the Senate bill negotiated by one of the most honest, ethical, and conservative Republicans in the Senate, Sens. James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Sens. Get bipartisan solutions. Kirsten…Cinema (I-AZ). Let’s use bipartisan compromise to move it forward. ”

He added, “People are worried. The uncertainty of what’s going to happen because of this open border is making people anxious. And we have to recognize that, People said to me during my campaign, and still do, oh, borders, borders, borders, it’s a Republican problem. No, it’s not. This is an American problem and we’re going to deal with it. Now the president is starting to address this issue more. He talked about it at the beginning of his administration. Now he’s talking more about it, and I think he’s starting to address this issue more. I hope they take action, and we can force a bipartisan compromise, because we had an agreement on the table… and then President Trump swooped in. And said, oh, I don’t want to give Biden the victory. I want to run on chaos. Well, that’s not acceptable. Let’s make a deal. Actually on this very real issue. Let’s work on it.”
