Biden’s response also came under fire on Friday when social media chopped up a reporter for asking about the president’s use of language in condemning suspected illegal immigrant killers.
Biden called the suspect in the murder of Georgia student Laken Riley an “illegal alien” during Thursday’s State of the Union address. The incident comes after Biden was heckled by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to mention the name of Riley, who was allegedly killed by an illegal Venezuelan immigrant while jogging in Athens, Ga., last month. I woke up after receiving it.
Biden’s use of the word “illegal,” even when referring to a suspected murderer of undocumented immigrants, worried Democrats and some members of the media.
On Friday, as the president departed for a campaign trip to Philadelphia, he pressed Reuters reporter Nandita Bose: “Do you regret using the word ‘illegal’ to describe immigrants last night?” It was.
“Well, I probably wouldn’t…again,” Biden gave a hesitant, confused response before insisting that the murder suspect “technically shouldn’t be here.”

Biden administration asks Department of Homeland Security officials to stop using “illegal alien” in favor of “inclusive” language
“This reporter’s questions are complete straw men,” Fox News national correspondent Bill Melzin wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Biden doesn’t use illegal to refer to ‘immigrants.’ Immigrants come legally. He used it to refer to illegal aliens. In this case, the suspected illegal alien killer Yes. Alien is a legal term based on U.S. law/Immigration and Nationality Act.” ”
“‘Patriotic correctness’ strikes again. People coming across the border are immigrants,” added Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, policy director at the American Immigration Council, with a screencap of the dictionary definition. “They fit both the dictionary definition (‘a person who comes to a country to obtain permanent residence’) and the INA legal definition (a non-national who is not an immigrant).”
“That would be Nandita Bose of Reuters,” added Curtis Hoch, editor-in-chief of Newsbusters. “That’s a really ridiculous question.”
“Journalists in the media are more concerned about the word illegal being used than they are about the murder of a 22-year-old woman,” wrote podcaster Ahmed Al Asriken. “No one reminds them why they deserve to be despised and hated more than they are.”

Joe Biden stood his ground during a confrontation over the use of the term “illegal” to refer to illegal immigrants.
‘Lincoln Riley’: Biden mocked for naming murdered Georgia student
Tim Murtaugh, a podcaster and author who worked on the 2020 Trump campaign, said, “The reporters did an amazing job of reporting something important. There is no doubt that calling someone “illegal” is a real problem. No,” he wrote. “They don’t even think to ask Biden if he regrets releasing the ‘illegal alien’ who killed Laken Riley (Biden calls her ‘Lincoln’). Instead, they use the word Ask them if they regret it.”
“The media and the Democratic Party hate when the truth is presented in hard terms,” writes author Justin Hart.
Bose tweeted a question for the president, saying, “Today I’m traveling to Philadelphia with Biden to ask the president if he regrets using the word ‘illegal’ to describe immigrants in last night’s SOTU speech. “Strictly speaking, you shouldn’t do that,” he said. here. ‘”
Author Avatanth Kumar replied, “He’s not talking about immigrants, he’s talking about a specific person who killed Laken (he said Lincoln) Riley.”
Substack writer Jim Treacher mocked the reporter as if he were asking, “Mr. President, why did you insult that woman’s murderer?”
Spectator contributing editor Stephen L. Miller responded directly to Bose, saying, “Ma’am, he did not use this word to describe immigrants in the United States. He is the man who beat a 22-year-old woman to death.” I used this word to express this.” ”
“They are not satisfied with this and are going to bully him and KJP into making the illegal immigrant killer apologize,” he added.
Some took aim at Biden’s lackluster response, with others comparing it to his energy the night before.
“You’re saying they ‘technically shouldn’t be here,’ and yet you keep letting them in!” wrote Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz.
Comedian Tim Young wrote, “Biden has no idea where he is and can’t answer simple questions…” “This clip is all you need to know about why he won’t take a cognitive test.”
“Technically, it shouldn’t be here, but you know, it’s no big deal,” wrote John Cooper, a senior adviser on the House Homeland Security Committee.

“Yeah. And Biden didn’t seem to remember what he said last night,” Twicky’s Doug Powers wrote. He also wrote, “Last night’s ‘energy’ cocktail is definitely gone.”
