Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the White House.
A note from Joe Biden’s doctor said: “The President visited the hospital this afternoon complaining of upper respiratory symptoms, including runny nose and dry cough, and general fatigue.”
President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday and is experiencing mild symptoms, the White House said.
The 81-year-old Biden tested positive after his first event in Las Vegas, where he was scheduled to speak at the annual UnidosUS conference afterward. The president’s physician said Biden has received his first dose of Paxlovidone and will self-isolate at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, as directed by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“The President experienced upper respiratory symptoms this afternoon, including runny nose, dry cough and general fatigue,” a memo from Biden’s physician provided by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “While the President felt well to attend his first event today, he has not continued to feel better and has therefore undergone laboratory testing for COVID-19, which has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.”
Biden was scheduled to hold a speaking event on Wednesday afternoon.
Biden was scheduled to speak at the UnidosUS annual conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday afternoon, following an interview with Univision at the Original Lindo Michoacan restaurant.

However, Biden did not show up to the meeting at his scheduled speaking time of 4:30pm ET.
Shortly after 6pm ET, UnidosUS President Jeanette Murguia announced to the crowd that Biden had tested positive for the virus.
