A new national poll conducted after the presidential debate between Biden and Trump found that nearly 80% of voters are concerned that Biden “does not have the mental and physical health necessary to serve a second term as president.”
The NBC News poll of 800 registered voters conducted July 7-9, before former President Trump’s nearly assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania last weekend, showed Trump leading Biden head-to-head, 45% to 43%.
While the race remains close, the poll found that 62% of Democrats want someone else to be the party’s top candidate rather than Biden, and 79% of all voters are concerned about the 81-year-old Biden’s mental and physical fitness.
Just 50% of respondents had similar mental or physical health concerns about Trump, 78.
