Biden, Trump tied in poll of Virginia voters

A new poll shows that in Virginia, a state won by Democrats in 2020, President Biden and former President Trump are neck and neck in the approval ratings.

a Fox News Poll A survey of Virginia’s registered voters released Thursday found Biden and Trump tied at 48 percent.

Biden won the state by more than 10 percentage points in 2020, receiving 54.11 percent of the vote to Trump’s 44 percent in their first head-to-head matchup.

Recent surveys show Biden has the support of 73% of black voters, 58% of suburban women and 56% of college-educated voters.

Trump has the support of 80% of white evangelical Christians, 63% of rural voters, 56% of voters without a college degree, and 54% of white voters.

The survey found that both candidates enjoyed equal support across generations: Biden and Trump each received 48% support among voters under 30 and 48% support among those over 65.

Independents lean slightly toward Biden at 45 percent, with Trump closely behind at 43 percent.

The survey found that men were more likely to support Trump than women.

In a hypothetical race between Biden, Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West and Jill Stein, Biden would receive 42% of the vote, slightly ahead of Trump’s 41%.

Kennedy received 9 percent of the support in the state, while West and Stein received 2 percent each. Kennedy, West and Stein are not currently running in Virginia.

“Virginia is a must-win state for Biden, so his campaign will need to seriously defend it to keep the race close here,” said Chris Anderson, the Democratic pollster who conducted the Fox News poll, adding that it was not impossible for Biden to maintain his lead.

A poll released a week after Trump’s conviction found that 66 percent of Virginians said the conviction would not affect their vote.

The survey also found that Trump was ahead in two key battleground states, Nevada and Arizona.

The poll was conducted June 1-3 among 1,107 Virginia voters and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
