Biden up by 10 points in Pennsylvania survey

A survey of Pennsylvania registered voters released Thursday shows President Biden leading former President Trump by 10 points in a hypothetical 2024 general election matchup.

of Franklin & Marshall College Poll Biden received support from 48% of voters surveyed, compared to 38% for Trump. Meanwhile, 13% of voters surveyed said they would vote for “someone else,” and the remaining 1% said they did not know who to vote for.

Biden’s lead has increased significantly since the previous Franklin and Marshall College poll.inside February 2024 poll, Mr. Biden led Mr. Trump by just 1 point, within the margin of error, at 43% compared to Mr. Trump’s 42%. Additionally, 12 percent said they supported others and 2 percent said they did not know.

However, polling shows that third-party and independent candidates appear to be slightly dampening Biden’s momentum in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania voters were more open to other candidates when asked to choose between Biden, Trump, Green Party candidate Jill Stein, and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

In that scenario, Biden received support from 42% of Pennsylvania voters surveyed. Trump won 40%, Kennedy 9% and Stein 3%. Additionally, 4% said they would prefer someone else, and 4% said they didn’t know.

In the February 2024 survey, third-party candidates were slightly less popular. Biden was supported by 42% of Pennsylvania voters. Trump had 37%, Kennedy 8% and Stein 2%. 7% said it was someone else, and 5% said they did not know.

Pennsylvania could be a key state for Biden in the November election. The Keystone State hadn’t voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1988, but it surprised many observers by voting red for Trump in 2016 by a margin of less than 50,000 votes. Biden was able to reverse that in 2020, but by just 1 percentage point.

But the recent surge in third-party candidates has raised concerns among Democrats that they will receive more support from Mr. Biden than from Mr. Trump.

Biden leads Trump by 1.1 percentage points in Pennsylvania, according to the Decision Desk Headquarters polling average. Nationally, Trump leads Biden by 0.7 percentage points.

The survey was conducted March 20-31 and had a margin of error of 4 percentage points. For questions about two-way competition, the margin of error is 5.7 percentage points.
