Biden Urges Congress to ‘Do Something’ on Gun Control

President Joe Biden called on Congress to “do something” on gun control on Saturday, the 12th anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School attack.

Biden released a five-paragraph statement to commemorate the tragic anniversary, noting that the attack led to the creation of Moms Demand Action and Gabby Giffords' gun control group Giffords.

He painted an image of the group as organic and made no mention of Mama's Demand's relationship with Mike Bloomberg.

The outgoing president referred to gun regulations he signed into law in 2022 and repeated claims, now proven false, that murders and crimes were on his watch.

As Breitbart News reported on October 16, 2024, the FBI revised its crime numbers, which initially looked in Biden's favor, to indicate that more violent crimes were actually occurring on Biden's watch. It showed an increase of 4.5%.

Biden used the last paragraph of the Sandy Hook statement to call for universal background checks, red flag laws, gun storage laws, and “a ban on assault weapons like those used at Sandy Hook.”

He did not mention that the gun used in the Sandy Hook attack was legally purchased, stolen from a legal purchaser, and used in the heinous crime.

Additionally, Biden did not mention that all of the laws he asked Congress to pass were in California, which led the nation in “active shooters” in 2021 and 2023.
