‘Biden Was Too Slow’ on Border

On Friday's episode of HBO's “Real Time,” U.S. House candidate John Avlon (D-New York) said, “Biden has acted too late on the border,” in response to a question about what President Joe Biden has done at the border in the first three and a half years of his term.

In discussing who is a threat to the American system, National Review editor Rich Lowry said Democrats fully support expanding the Supreme Court and abolishing the filibuster, and that Biden is “the president of the United States who refuses to enforce the law at the border.” Avlon countered that these claims are untrue.

Rowley went on to claim that Biden “singlehandedly enacted and funded a massive, patently illegal student loan program,” and told Avlon, “You say you're not part of the team, but you don't criticize your own side.”

“By the way, we absolutely need to pass a bipartisan border security bill, but Donald Trump has blocked it,” Avlon replied. “I will be voting for it from day one because we need a strong border.”

Laurie then asked, “So what happened in the first three and a half years? Where was he for those first three and a half years?”

Avlon responded: “I think Biden acted too late on the border, but when there was a bipartisan border security bill, Trump killed it because he didn't want the credit for bipartisanship. The big difference is we know bipartisanship is the solution, but so many people on the far right listen to whatever Donald Trump says and think bipartisanship is the problem.”

Rowley went on to ask, “Was Biden right when he said he doesn't have the authority to do anything on his own at the border?”

While Laurie was asking a question, host Bill Maher interrupted to move on to another topic, but Avlon ignored Maher's interruption and said, “Pass the law.”
