Biden won’t undergo cognitive exam, claims he has ‘full neurological test every day’

In his first interview since his disastrous debate defeat against Donald Trump last week, President Biden said he was “undergoing thorough neurological testing every day” but made clear he would not undergo an independent medical evaluation to reassure voters he was eligible to run for the Democratic nomination in 2024.

As questions grow about Biden’s mental and physical competency ahead of the November election, ABC News reporter George Stephanopoulos asked whether the 81-year-old president “has ever undergone a full neurological and cognitive evaluation.”

“I undergo a thorough neurological exam every day, and I also undergo a thorough physical exam,” Biden responded.

“Well, I mean, I did have a medical check-up at Walter Reed Hospital, right,” he added.

Stephanopoulos then asked the president whether he had seen a neurologist or a specialist.

Biden responded no, saying, “Nobody’s saying we have to do that.”

“They say I’m excellent,” he added.

What to know about the impact of President Biden’s debate performance:

To reassure voters that he is not mentally declining, Biden said he would undergo an independent medical evaluation and would not make the results public.

“I take cognitive tests every day,” Biden said. “Everything I do. I’m not just campaigning, I’m running the world.”

Biden said he would not have run for re-election if he hadn’t felt mentally and physically incapable of serving another four years.
