Biden’s attorney insists president doesn’t have memory problems, calls Hur report ‘off the rails’

In a massive 388-page report, President Biden’s lawyer Bob Bauer harshly criticized Special Counsel Robert Hur for labeling President Biden as sickly.

Bauer was adamant that the 81-year-old president does not suffer from memory loss and called Xu’s report a “shoddy job.”

“This is outrageous reporting and the product of poor work,” Bauer, who rarely gives public interviews, told CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday.

“With legal conclusions, characterizations, factual errors, [and] “Disparaging comments about the President that are contrary to Department of Justice policy and standards.” “This is not what prosecutors do.”

Despite his harsh criticism of the Ha report, Bauer praised its legal analysis as “prescient and correct.”

Hoar concluded that Biden “intentionally retained and disclosed classified material,” but based on precedent, Biden’s cooperation and, controversially, the jury found him “a well-intentioned person with a poor memory.” He refused to press charges on the grounds that he was likely to be considered an “elderly man.”

Bauer said he never tried to hide the 388-page report, which was released last Thursday with a letter written by Bauer and Biden’s special counsel Richard Sauber. Some of the results were criticized.

Bauer disputed the special counsel’s version of events, saying he was in the room when Xu shot Biden for about five hours last year.

“I remember the president answering questions very candidly in that interview and sharing some of his fondest memories,” Bauer said.

“The special counsel’s decision to cherry-pick some of the references you discuss here in a highly misleading manner is an example of what I would call a truly shoddy work product,” Bauer said. added.

Bauer also claimed that the president was able to hear some of the special counsel’s questions when he met with Xu last October.

“There have been several times when the special counsel … has asked questions that the president has chosen as a matter of logic, and the president has shown that the questions have no logical support,” Bauer said.

Joe Biden classified document investigation report

  • Special Counsel Robert Hur determined that President Biden “intentionally retained and disclosed classified materials” after he left office as vice president in 2016.
  • The records kept by Biden included documents related to military and foreign policy in Afghanistan and other national security and foreign policy issues.

  • Biden kept classified documents to help write his memoir. “I just found all the classified stuff downstairs,” Biden reportedly told the ghostwriter in a 2017 conversation.
  • Despite these findings, Mr. Xu’s 388-page report recommended that the president not be indicted.
  • The special counsel said that if Biden were to go to trial, he would likely present himself to the jury as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

“I never got over the special counsel’s inability to ask accurate questions or think for himself. He had problems with mental acuity. He just… I thought he asked the wrong question.”

Mr. Biden strongly objected to aspects of Mr. Xu’s report, particularly the part in which the special counsel claimed that he “does not remember when his son Beau died, even within a few years.”

“How on earth could he say something like that? Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought it was none of their damn business,” President Biden told reporters last Thursday. He was furious at the press conference.

Bauer demurred when asked if Biden’s team would agree to the Justice Department releasing some of Harr’s interview transcripts.

Biden also declined to answer a question about whether he had taken action against former aides who were responsible for the leaking of classified documents.

Some of the criticisms that Mr. Biden’s allies have leveled against Mr. Ha, a former Maryland attorney appointed by President Trump, are similar to those made by his predecessor in recent complaints against the Justice Department. There is also.

Former President Donald Trump has accused the Justice Department of launching a fraudulent “witch hunt” against him as he faces 91 criminal charges filed by district attorneys in Fulton County, Georgia, and Manhattan. .

“I’m not alleging that the system is rigged. We’re looking at this particular performance by this particular special prosecutor in this particular case,” Bauer said. I objected.
