Biden’s Cabinet doubles down on support for president amid calls to invoke 25th Amendment

Members of President Biden’s cabinet are doubling down on their support for the president amid calls to invoke the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to remove him from office.

Their strengthening support comes as Biden continues to face pressure over his health and his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, raising concerns among lawmakers who question whether he will be able to serve out the remainder of his term if he is unable to seek reelection.

“Secretary Yellen does not agree with those views,” a spokesman for Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told Fox News Digital on Tuesday, also referring to Yellen’s recent comments at a House hearing in which she declined to comment on details about her private meeting with Biden.

“The president has been very effective in the meetings I’ve participated in, including many international meetings that have lasted several hours,” Yellen said at the time.

Representatives for Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm also said their bosses did not agree with calls for Biden to resign or be fired.

A spokesman for Granholm pointed to Fox News to comments she made last month refuting reports that Biden was in a “decline” mentally.

“The president is in perfect health,” Granholm told Fox at the time. “He’s the smartest, most knowledgeable person in this room. He asks the toughest questions and has the sharpest insight into the complex questions that are brought to him. He’s astute, he’s thoughtful and he’s wise.”

A spokesman for Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack pointed Fox to comments Vilsack made this month defending Biden’s ability to perform his job as president.

“He’s certainly a capable person,” Vilsack told AgriPulse, an agriculture news site.

Pressure had been building since Trump’s poor performance in the first presidential debate in June, during which he spoke hoarsely and stammered.

Harris’ office said Tuesday morning that she believes Biden is capable of carrying out the duties of the presidency at this time.

“As the vice president has said many times before, the American people are fortunate to have President Biden leading our country,” vice presidential spokesman Ernesto Apresa told Fox.
