Biden’s Gaza Plan May Endanger Troops

U.S. officials say President Joe Biden’s military plan to build a floating pier to deliver aid to Gaza is in jeopardy, even though the president has vowed not to put boots in Gaza, according to a report. also warned that it could endanger U.S. forces.

NBC News report On Saturday, current and former administration officials expressed concern that the plan “involves security risks.”

WATCH — Democratic Sen. Welch: There are ‘many dangers’ to Biden’s Gaza aid pier:

Specifically, since the US military does not set foot in Gaza, he expressed concern that non-Americans may be involved in transporting aid supplies from the US military to Gaza.

“Someone could load a bomb with a timer or remote detonator into a truck and cause a catastrophe,” a U.S. military official told NBC News.

For now, the U.S. Navy plans to build a wharf a few miles offshore from Gaza where civilian ships can deliver aid. The aid will be loaded onto trucks, loaded onto U.S. military boats, and transported to a jetty the army is building anchored on the Gaza coast.

Officials told NBC News that options being considered include having drivers and security personnel from other countries drive trucks from the pier to shore to distribute aid and then driving the trucks to offshore piers. There is a plan to have it driven and returned to the naval pier by ferry. And it was reloaded. The report said it has not yet been decided who these drivers will be.

Another potential option is to establish a security perimeter in the Gaza Strip protected by the Israel Defense Forces, but building that perimeter could take extra time. Additionally, the point of Biden’s floating pier plan is to bypass the Israeli government, which Biden administration officials say is not doing enough to get aid to the Palestinians.

Attention — Democratic Sen. Himes: Hamas steals aid, but Israel needs more aid in the following areas:

The report suggests that not all U.S. military officials are on board with the plan, which Mr. This came in response to growing criticism from Americans of American descent. The war began after Hamas carried out a terrorist attack in southern Israel on October 7, killing around 1,200 people and kidnapping around 200.

Progressives have staged protests across the country since Israel’s attack on Hamas, and Muslim Americans have called on voters to stay home during the November 2024 presidential election.

U.S. military officials told NBC News they first heard about the floating dock concept when Biden announced it in his March 7 State of the Union address.

Navy officials told reporters at a background briefing last week that safety plans are being developed and the safety of the sailors involved is a top concern.
