Biden’s outgoing letter to Trump: ‘May God bless you’

In a letter to President Trump, former President Biden wished him well in his second term and said, “God bless you.”

“As I leave this sacred office, I wish you and your family all the best for the next four years,” Biden wrote. “The American people, and people around the world, look to this home for stability amidst the inevitable storms of history. My prayers are for our nation to see times of prosperity, peace, and grace in the coming years. To visit.”

“May God bless and guide you as He has blessed and guided our beloved country since its founding,” the letter concludes.

Biden left office on Monday at the end of his first and only term. Trump took the oath for the second time and returned to the White House.

At the resolution desk upon arrival was a letter signed by Biden and dated Monday.

President Trump said the letter was “very nice” and “a kind of inspirational type of letter.”

The president discovered the letter while answering questions from reporters in the Oval Office on Monday night. He held up an envelope with the number “47'' written on it to commemorate President Trump's second term.

Despite some badmouthing and a checkered history between the two presidents, they appeared to have friendly conversations and a relationship during the transition.

Trump took some shots at Biden in his inaugural address, but generally continued to show respect for the outgoing president.

The letter was obtained by news nationwhich, like The Hill, is owned by Nexstar.
