A cyclist in downtown Chicago drew attention during a tense confrontation with US customs and border agents, loudly declaring, “I’m not a US citizen!” This scene, which quickly escalated into a chaotic chase, was captured on video.
The footage shows the unidentified cyclist riding closely near a group of federal immigration officers on Sunday as they patrolled the city.
“I’m not a US citizen! Come on!” the cyclist can be heard shouting repeatedly at an agent.
As he rode, his phone fell from his pocket while he continued to taunt the officers.
“You dropped your phone,” one agent yelled at him.
The cyclist stopped to retrieve his phone, at which point an agent shouted, “Look him!” and a dozen officers surged forward to apprehend him.
Despite their efforts, the agent chasing him was unable to catch him as the cyclist managed to escape.
This incident was recorded by Christopher Sweatt, who mentioned that while the man made verbal remarks, there was no physical confrontation.
As per FOX 32, it remains unclear if the cyclist was later identified or taken into custody.
Federal agents, heavily equipped, were deployed in downtown Chicago for an immigration enforcement operation over the weekend.
These agents conducted patrols in some of Chicago’s busiest tourist areas as part of a crackdown that started Sunday afternoon.
Former President Trump stated, “The Border Patrol takes no nonsense!”
Democratic leaders, including Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, criticized this display of federal authority under the Trump administration.
The exact number of undocumented immigrants captured in this operation has not been disclosed.
This action in Chicago followed threats from Trump to send the National Guard to the city in the weeks prior.
The federal presence in Chicago came shortly after disturbances were reported at an ICE facility in Portland, Oregon, where Trump claimed he had authorized “full force” to safeguard the area against what he described as domestic terrorism.
